L’Ecole du Samedi: A Program for French Children
Now in its fourth year, L’Ecole du Samedi is a program specifically designed for French speaking children:
Responding to a need expressed by numerous Connecticut and Westchester families who want to give their children the opportunity of increasing their knowledge of the French culture, classes are taught by experienced French teachers and follow the French school curriculum. Children will be subject to a language and level test. Student's progress will be evaluated on a regular basis and reviewed with parents.
Three levels are offered in accordance with the program of l'Education Nationale in France:
1- CP (1st grade)
Children learn to read, write and communicate independently.
2 - CE1 and CE2 (2nd and 3rd grade)
Emphasis is placed on listening and speaking skills, handwriting, written expression, spelling, the beginning study of grammar and punctuation.
3 - CM1 and CM2 (4th and 5th grade)
The program builds on the concepts and skills taught at the earlier levels. Here, we further develop listening and speaking skills, grammar usage and spelling, and various kinds of writing.
